story of

Charlotte Dance Studio

Charlotte Dance Studio began as a one room studio specializing in ballet classes for children and adults in 2014. Over the years, CDS gradually expanded to three dance rooms; and has diversified the classes into an array of dance genres.

In 2016, CDS was registered as a member and the examination centre of CSTD (Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing). CSTD is a prestigious international dance society originated from Australia proudly serving dance for over 80 years. Ballet, modern jazz and theatrical classes at CDS are taught under the CSTD syllabi to prepare students for the examination.

To meet the diverse interests in our community, CDS also offers classes for Chinese dance, K-pop, YogaKids® for children, as well as fitness classes such as mat Pilates and Piloxing® for adults. Open syllabus ballet class is also available for adult beginners of all ages who would like to learn ballet recreationally or as a form of exercise. The teachers and instructors at CDS are qualified, experienced and friendly. They are passionate and committed in their field and they strive to provide a fun and encouraging experience to all the students and participants.

Conveniently located in Metro Town, Kota Kinabalu, CDS is fully air-conditioned, bright, clean and secure. The dance rooms are equipped with full length mirrors and sprung floors. A sprung floor is a floor that absorbs shocks and greatly reduces risk of injuries. Outside the dance rooms, dancers and parents can rest or socialize at the cozy waiting areas whilst waiting for the class.

Lily Tseu

Lily is a certified mat Pilates practitioner by Polestar® Pilates Asia, and certified Piloxing® instructor. She started as an adult beginner ballet student at CDS in 2014.  As an adult learner who is truly passionate about ballet, she would find ways to overcome her physical limitation in attempt to improve her ballet technique. She found that with consistent practice, Pilates has been very effective in strengthening her core, increasing her mobility and flexibility which not only help her to progress in her dance but also help to reduce the risk of injuries. On the other hand, she also enjoys Piloxing®  as it is a real upbeat and fun cardio exercise to increase stamina and burn extra calories. So, as an instructor, she finds joy in sharing the goodness of Pilates and Piloxing® with those who are interested to improve their health and fitness.
